How it works

The kit is an extra on any car. You do not need to know how to pitch a tent.

  1. 1

Pick a car and tick the kit

Any crossover or SUV works; the Forester and the RAV4 are the favourites. The kit is in the extras list on every car page, priced per day.

  2. 2

    We fit it at pickup

At the airport, the office or your hotel. We show you how the tent clips to the boot and how the stove works. Fifteen minutes, then you drive.

  3. 3

    Return it as it is

No cleaning, no repacking. Hand back the car with the bags in the boot and we take care of the rest.

Where the car can sleep

Wild camping is legal in Georgia outside national park core zones. Four places we send people first.

01

Juta and the Chaukhi valley

180 km from Tbilisi · 2 200 m · gravel last 8 km

Park below the Chaukhi massif, walk to the lakes in the morning, cook dinner with the peaks going pink. Cold at night even in July; the sleeping bags are made for it.

02

Vashlovani steppe

190 km from Tbilisi · 600 m · permit at the park office

Badlands and pistachio groves on the Azerbaijani border, zero light pollution. Best from April to June and in October; the awning matters here.

03

Black Sea near Ureki

330 km from Tbilisi · sea level · asphalt all the way

Magnetic black sand, pine forest right behind the beach, warm water from June to September. The easy option for a first night out.

04

Svaneti, the road to Ushguli

470 km from Tbilisi · 1 500–2 200 m · 4x4 beyond Mestia

Towers, glaciers and meadows you can park on. Take the Forester or a 4x4 and plan two nights: one near Mestia, one under Shkhara.

Questions about the kit

Pick a car, tick the kit, go.

Not sure which car? Write to us with your dates and route, we will suggest one.

Does the tent fit every car?
It attaches to the open tailgate of any crossover, SUV or minivan in our fleet. It does not fit the sedans and the Boxster; for those we can give a free-standing tent instead.
What if it rains?
The tent and the awning are waterproof, and you can always sleep inside the car with the seats folded. The mattress fits in the boot of the Forester, the RAV4 and the Pajero.
Is wild camping allowed in Georgia?
Yes, outside the strict zones of national parks and private land. In parks like Vashlovani or Lagodekhi you register at the office and pay a small fee. We mark the rules for each of our four places in the printed guide in the kit.
Can I take the kit for one night?
Yes, the minimum is one day, the same as the car. Most people take it for the whole rental and use it two or three nights out of seven.
